While we’ll know more about the effects of alkaline water as more research is completed, we already know quite a lot. Alkaline water lowers the acidity levels in your body which improves digestion, restores electrolytes and detoxifies the body. Drinking alkaline water provides much better rehydration than the water that normally comes from a tap, it also restores energy. A major benefit of drinking negatively charged alkaline water is the effect that it has on free radical oxygen in the body. Oxidation has been identified as the most prolific cause of aging and can promote the growth of certain cancers. Anti-oxidant supplements have become commonplace, but you could achieve the same results by drinking enough water. That is, of course, if your water has been ionized with a low PH level.
So, by drinking PH-controlled alkaline water from an ionizer, you’re effortlessly leading your body toward better health. People who have started using an ionizer machine to adjust the PH level of their water have all said that the results are almost instantaneous. In addition to this, the best ionizer machines include carbon and other filters to remove harmful chemicals from the water. In the end, you’re getting the best of both worlds. Your drinking water is perfectly pure and you can adjust the PH level of the water for your exact needs. It’s really simple to set the ionizer to the PH level that you want, whether it be for drinking, cleaning around the home, your plants, or for washing your face, hands, or hair.
These machines can be quite expensive, but it seems that more and more people are prepared to pay for the value that they provide. Top Rated Alkaline Water Making Machines
As far as quality water ionizers go, the Air Water Life Aqua Ionizer Deluxe 5.0 is an inexpensive machine. In this review of the best water ionizers, it’s the cheapest. If the thought of paying over a grand for a high-end water ionizer sends your blood pressure through the roof, this machine will certainly calm your nerves.
It’s a compact and elegant countertop unit measuring 16 X 13 X 9 inches. There’s basically no installation involved and it’s just as easy to use. Touch sensitive buttons on the front of the machine guide you, making it really easy to select the perfect PH for the water that you get. You’re able to adjust the PH level from 4.5 up to 11 and a large LCD screen displays the relevant information. You do this by using one of 7 pre-programmed selector buttons. There are 4 alkaline options with one option for non-ionized water, this will provide water that has been purified by the built in carbon filter but has not had the PH altered. Then there are 2 acidic ionized options and these are marked as cosmetic and household cleaning for easy identification.
The antioxidant potential of the water ranges from +600 to -600 ORP, depending on the selected alkaline/acidity level. The active carbon filter will give you about 1580-gallons of purified water before the filter needs changing. The machine is also self-cleaning, after each use, it reverses the polarity and flushes the system.
I’ll never claim that the Air Water Deluxe 5.0 isn’t quite up there with the top machines – it has, for example, 5 plates, whereas the more expensive oxidizers can have as many as 9. It is, none the less, a remarkable machine for its price. It’s made from quality materials and looks great. The manufacturers are certainly confident about what they’re selling, it has a 5-year repair or replacement warranty. So even though you’re paying considerably less than you would for any of the others in this review, you are,in no way buying a piece of junk.
Apart from being an incredibly elegant machine, the Bawell Platinum is one of the most capable water ionizers that you can get. It’s also one of the more expensive, but definitely worth the extra money. One’s immediate impression is that of superior quality and that extends to what you don’t see too – the engineering beneath the skin.
This ionizer machine makes use of six high-quality plates (2 sets of 3). It has two internal filters for great water purification and there’s an option of installing 3 external filters for even greater purification. Even with the extra filtration, this countertop water ionizer isn’t a large unit, it measures 11.8 X 6.2 X 15.2 inches and has keyhole slots at the back for wall mounting. The filters are of the best quality and will provide around 1300-gallons of water before they need replacing.
The technical specs are quite impressive. It has a PH range of between 2 and 12 and the ORP range is +600 to -800. It’s the negative ORP that provides the valuable anti-oxidization, so this is pretty good.
This is a high-quality product and certainly one of the best water ionizer machines available. It’s not only premium quality with respect to the materials used in its construction, but has been engineered to give superior results. In a word, remarkable.
This machine is the more advanced brother to the Air Water Deluxe 5.0 at the top of the review. It also costs a quite a lot more. This is only natural, the Aqua Ionizer Deluxe 9.0 uses 9 Platinum-Titanium plates and is obviously a superior machine.
It has the same easy to use settings as the smaller 5.0 model with seven options that you select by means of touch buttons – 4 alkaline, 1 purification only, and 2 for acidic water. The LCD screen is similar to the smaller model and tells you the exact status of the water that you’re using. It also has a high-quality active carbon filter that will last for about 1580 gallons of water usage.
Where the 9 plate ionizer displays its superiority is in the range that it’s able to adjust the PH and its ORP range. The variable PH levels range from 3 – 11.5 and the ORP range goes as low as -860. This about as good as it gets. Despite the extra electrolysis plates, this is not a particularly large countertop machine, with dimensions of 16.6 X 12.4 X 8.7 inches.
This can be easily be described as the ultimate water ionizer and it has the best ORP figures out of all the machines in this review. The quality is unquestionable, it’s a fantastic machine and is worth its high price tag. This product is ETL listed, uses FDA approved plastics that certified as being food-safe, is RoHS certified and has undergone ISO 9000:9001 factory testing.
This water ionizer machine is remarkable in many ways. It’s a good deal cheaper than the really expensive models, but has specs that just about match the high-end machines. Although it only uses 5 platinum-titanium plates, the IntelGadgets IONtech IT-757 reaches similar ORP and PH levels to ionizers that have many more plates. This gives you the advantage of a more compact size, with great results. Not to mention a very reasonable price.
The guys at IntelGadgets claim that the secret lies in their high-performance transformer. This, they say, is the reason why they’re able to get results from this small 5 plate machine that compare favorably to models that use more plates. We’re talking about a PH range of 4.5 – 11 and an astonishing ORP of -850. This is almost as good as machines that cost almost twice as much. Bravo to the engineers at IntelGadgets! They also use a ceramic ion membrane which can withstand higher temperatures, another innovative move.
The countertop unit, that measures 12.2 X 4.9 X 8.7 inches, looks and functions much like any of the best water ionizer machines. It has 7 touch controls: 4 for your various alkaline options, 1 for purified water that has not been ionized, and 2 acidic settings. The LCD screen is big and easy to read, providing information on the PH level, the water speed (for what that’s worth) and the filter status – how much water has been used since the last filter was changed. It also has a warning light that tells when it’s time to change the filter. Like most of the best water ionizers, it has a flush function that cleans the filters after each use.
This is, to my mind, the best value water ionizer machine. Its performance is only slightly lower than the high-priced machines and is considerably better than most of its competitors within the same price range. It’s not really big and looks great. The IntelGadgets IONtech IT-757 water ionizer is a real winner and has a 2-year warranty.
This is also one of the cheapest water ionizer machines and has some plus points and some that are not the best. It looks absolutely fantastic and is very compact. It also has an advantage in that it can be installed as an under sink unit, by means of an adapter kit. Though it looks so good, I wouldn’t want to hide it.
Let’s start with the good news. The Pure Hydration has the best filtration system of all the machines in this review. Where most use a 2-stage filtration system, this one has a very advanced 4-stage filter system. Though this is where the good stuff comes to an end. The filters don’t last too long, 3-6 months. But these are not very expensive filters and they’re super easy to change, so this isn’t a big concern.
When it comes to PH and ORP specs, it is nowhere nearly as versatile or effective as the others. You don’t have the option to adjust the PH level, it will always supply water with a PH of 9-9.5 and an ORP level of around -450. There are no acidity settings. Actually, there are no settings at all.
I wouldn’t see this as all bad though. If you’re looking purely for a machine to deliver filtered and ionized drinking water, that’s exactly what you’re getting – no more, no less. In fact, if that’s what you’re after, this is one of the best ionizers for drinking water only. Instead of paying for all the other stuff, you get fantastic filtration and a PH level that’s always perfect for drinking water. It’s a beautiful machine and is very compact – 10.5 X 6 X 13 inches.
So if you’re not looking for a water ionizer that’s going to provide acidic cleaning water or a variety of alkaline options, this machine is perfect. Actually, for a drinking water filter and ionizer all in one, it’s truly fantastic and really not expensive at all. A great little machine for its purpose.
Understanding the Terminology Used For Water Ionizing Machines
There are two main factors that one needs to understand when looking at water ionizing machines. The first is the PH level which determines whether the water is alkaline or acidic. A low PH reading (below 7) is considered to be acidic and when you go above 7, the water is alkaline. The best water ionizers can accomplish a PH level of 12, which is an extremely high alkaline level for water and this will have the best anti-oxidization properties.
This brings us to the second important factor, Oxidization Reduction Potential (ORP). This is a very technical phrase that basically describes the electron charge of the water, measured in millivolts (MV). A negative charge for the water will neutralize the radical oxygen in the blood. So the more negative charge in the water, the greater the anti-oxidization effect. This can be as low as -900 MV, this may also be given as -900 ORP – it means the same thing. So basically, you want the greatest negative ORP reading for the best anti-oxidization.
The magic happens by passing the water through electrolysis plates, the best machines use a platinum-titanium alloy. The cheaper machines will use fewer and these could also be smaller. Ionizer machines that don’t have as many electrolysis plates won’t perform as well as those that have more. This will result in a lower range for the PH and ORP levels. So when you’re paying more for a water ionizer, it may be of the same general quality as a cheaper machine, though you should expect better results. What’s of particular importance here, is to look at the end of the PH scale. You should expect a machine with more plates to have a top PH level that is greater than the cheaper machines. Likewise, you should expect the negative ORP spec to be greater – from about -800 MV.
