BISSELL SpotClean Anywhere Portable Carpet Cleaner 97491 Review

In this BISSELL SpotClean Anywhere portable carpet cleaner 97491 model review, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this model.

Bissell SpotClean Anywhere

Pros of the  Bissell SpotClean 97491

  • This is one of the cheapest portable carpet cleaners.
  • This vacuum has a small profile, making it easy to store away between uses.
  • This vacuum has a stain trapper tool for handling poop and other nasty, sticky messes. The stain trapper’s greatest advantage is the ability to suck up vomit, poop and other messes without getting that goop in the waste water tank, which has to be cleaned after every carpet cleaning. In short, you’d rather have the horrific mass in the stain trapper than the gallon sized waste water tank. You’ll still have to clean the stain trapper, but it is less work and you don’t have the risk of accidentally spilling a gallon of pee and poop laden water all over the floor when you use the stain trapper.
  • Bissell gives you several eight and sixteen ounce bottles of various stain formulas.
  • This carpet cleaner is around ten pounds, not including water. It is one of the lightest carpet cleaners you can get.
  • It has an upholstery and stair cleaning tool that comes with the vacuum for free. You also get a crevice tool with the vacuum.
  • This Spot Cleaner has a two year limited warranty. In contrast, its Rug Doctor counterpart has a one year limited warranty.
  • The water tanks on this Bissell carpet cleaner are easier to fill and empty than many competitors, even the more expensive Bissell Proheat 2X carpet cleaner.
  • This carpet spot cleaner has a light, flexible hose. It can get into small crevices and is easy to use to clean your upholstery.

Cons of the  Bissell SpotClean 97491

  • The BISSELL SpotClean Anywhere proudly proclaims its heat wave technology. It doesn’t do much in the way of keeping the water hot while you’re cleaning the carpets. By the time you are running out of clean water, the water is tepid or room temperature, depending on its starting temperature.
  • You have to pour hot water into the machine at the start of the cleaning process. For those with limited flexibility and strength or just limited time, the hassle of boiling water before pouring hot water into the water tank isn’t worth it.
  • The suction on this machine isn’t as strong as the bigger cleaning machines. And it doesn’t do a good job of sucking up liquid messes like pee that has not yet soaked into the carpet.

Observations

The 32 ounce bottles of Bissell 2X pet stain and odor formula is $10 to $12. The general Bissell 2X formula is around $10 for 32 ounces. While the price of a bottle of detergent seems high, realize that you only need one or two ounces for most cleaning jobs. OxyClean booster is around $6 for 32 ounces, but this is overkill for most cleaning jobs. This means that the carpet cleaner comes with around $10 to $15 of free detergent when you buy a new carpet cleaner.

Be sure to rinse out the detergent laden water from the tank between uses. If you leave detergent laden water or even its residue in the tanks, it will generate a nasty odor after a few weeks in the closet.

The Anywhere version of the Bissell SpotClean is in many ways equal to the full SpotClean version. For example, they have equivalently sized water tanks, cords that are just as long and the same tool set.
