In this Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 pet pack review, we’ll look at the pros and cons of this carpet cleaner.
Pros of the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3
This carpet cleaner is ready to go right out of the box, once you fill the lower tank with detergent and water. This is far better than some of the Bissell carpet cleaners that require one to three assembly steps before you can use them.
This carpet cleaner has a compact shape and small footprint. It takes up little more space while cleaning than a standard vacuum cleaner, so you might not even need to move furniture to clean most of your home.
Its upholstery and stair tools do an amazing job and come with the unit for free.
It has large capacity clean water and dirty water tanks, almost four gallons in the dirty water tank. It can do a whole house before they need to be emptied.
You get a free bottle of the pet cleaner and urine eliminator sprays with this machine, a roughly $40 value.
This carpet cleaner will get out most pet stains with a single pass. It will get out almost every stain if you pre-treat with the provided sprays and then use the Mighty Pro.
You can use this machine to clean the upholstery in your cars as well as the furniture in your home.
If you are constantly renting the steam cleaners from the grocery store, say more than once a month at $40 a pop, this machine will pay for itself in a year or so.
This machine has good suction. It will get most of the water out of the carpet.
The Mighty Pro X3 has a five year warranty. The equivalent Bissell machine has a three year limited warranty.
Cons of the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3
This is an expensive carpet cleaner, and most people short of those running their own carpet cleaning businesses or a large house with multiple “leaky” pets aren’t going to get their money’s worth out of it.
The unit is 36 pounds. While the unit has a tool for stairs, the hose for it is only twelve feet. If your staircase is taller than the hose can reach, it is hard work to get the vacuum up those stairs to clean the final steps.
Emptying the high capacity dirty water tank is difficult. Its design means the tank can slosh and spill over in the process of emptying. You’ll want to have this unit in the kitchen where you can empty it immediately into a large sink.
And the dirty water can stain the inside of the tank as well as dirty up the outside of the tank in the process of emptying it. Clean carpets are not as attractive when you discover the dirty water tank brushing up against furniture and walls left dirty streaks everywhere.
Observations
There is information that needs to be included in the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 pet pack review that are neither points for nor against the model, so we’ve added an observations section.
A 40 ounce pet formula detergent bottle for this machine is roughly $30.
However, that one 40 ounce bottle will last half a dozen to a dozen cleanings.
The machine has warnings about using an anti-foam solution if you see foaming in the tanks, but it does not come with anti-foaming chemicals.
This machine does a good job but takes time. You’ll get clean carpets but expect it to take much longer than if you were running a standard vacuum cleaner over the floor.
The machine is about three feet tall. When the handle is pulled out, it is almost three and a half feet tall. For shorter individuals, you may need to push the unit if you have trouble pulling it along.
Be careful not to clean a section of carpet more than twice, the manual states this can over-wet the carpet.
