The Poolvergnuegen Poolcleaner Suction Pool Cleaner Review

Poolvergnuegen makes a variety of pool cleaner models. We’re going to compare the 2 wheel and 4 wheel models of the Poolvergnuegen pool cleaner and suction side cleaner. They’re both rated for half horsepower or 35 gallon per minute pool pumps, and they’re advertised as working equally well in all types of swimming pools. We’ll compare these models to each other and similar products on the market.

The 2X Model by Poolvergnuegen

  • The 2 wheeled Poolvergnuegen pool cleaner is model PV896584000013.
  • The two wheeled version is perfect for smaller pools up to 16 feet by 32 feet. This is a better suction side cleaner than the 4 wheeled version; it can climb over obstacles like pool drains and up the stairs. Its adjustable skirt makes it ideal for pebble bottom pools; it can suck up the dirt as it passes over uneven surfaces.
  • The pool cleaner has several preprogramed steering sequences. With 90 to 450 degree turns, it will clean in and around irregularly shaped swimming pools. This helps it avoid getting caught in corners, too.
  • It automatically adjusts the turbine vanes to maintain the same level of suction even if water pressure drops. You can change out the “throats” to capture larger debris or handle lower flow rates. These interchangeable throats come with the pool cleaner. The manufacturer offers a variety of replacement parts like tires, too.

The 4X Model by Poolvergnuegen

  • The 4 wheeled Poolvergnuegen pool cleaner is model PV896584000020.
  • This pool cleaner has similar behavior to the two wheeled model. For example, it has an automatic turbine that adjusts speed to maintain performance as water pressure levels drop. It can drive over obstacles and suck up debris on uneven surfaces. It does fine on pool surfaces from tile to vinyl, gunite to fiberglass.
  • The biggest difference between the 4X model and 2X is that the 4X model is designed for much larger swimming pools. It is able to handle pools up to 20 feet by 40 feet. One reason for this is the 40 foot hose length. In the 2X model, the hose is just 33 feet long. The 4X model is a little heavier because of the wheels and additional hose length.

Which Is Better in My Case - 2X or 4X?

The lighter, smaller 2X model is the better choice for skimmer applications or dedicated suction line in small pools. However, the 4X model is the better choice for deep swimming pools, both because of the hose and the overall design. If the pool pump is half way between the two ends of the pool but isn’t very deep, you can get away with the 2X model, Poolvergnuegen model number PV896584000013. If the pool pump is at one end of a 35 foot long swimming pool, you can only use the 4X model, Poolvergnuegen model number PV896584000020.

How the Poolvergnuegen Pool Cleaners Compare to the Competition

The Poolvergnuegen pool cleaners may require you to get different tires if it can’t get traction on very smooth pools. That is something you’ll pay for out of pocket. If you have an ultra-smooth vinyl pool, other pool cleaners are a better choice. This pool cleaner obviously isn’t an option if you don’t want to power the pool cleaner from the pool pump, since it can’t be powered via a cord and power outlet.

These models are not maintenance-free. They sometimes clog on heavy debris like large rocks and big leaves. When it clogs, it will just stop running. Then you have to pull it out of the pool to clear the intakes and filters. This can be a problem if it sucks up a lot of grit and sand, too, though it has no issues picking up small amounts of material like this.

Neither model actually climbs the walls of your pool, though it will climb up the edges of steps and rises in the pool. If you need to aggressively clean the sides of the pool, you’ll need a dedicated pool wall cleaner or expect to manually scrub them once in a while.

If the pool has crazy shapes on the bottom, the pool cleaner won’t ensure that it gets every corner of the pool. Smarter pool cleaners may be a better choice in these cases. Note that if you don’t put the floats on the suction hoses, the unit will have trouble righting itself.
